Overview The Help page is provided to assist you in navigating around this or any other web site. Included are some helpful hints concerning:
web site navigation,Adobe Acrobat (to view and print various forms or documents), andadditional computer "help" topics.
How to Move Around a Web Site Web sites often provide multiple pages for viewing. These pages, also called links, are usually identified under menus.
A menu, or menu bar, provides links from one page to another within the web site. For example, the St. Gregory the Great web site provides links to the following pages on its site: - Home
- Parish
- School
- Religious Education
- Contact Us
- Directions
- Site Map
- Help
Often, as with the St. Gregory the Great site, various pages within the web site offer more links. These can be considered sub-categories or sub-links. For example, under the Parish page, readers will find the following sub-links:- Parish Administration
- Religious Formation
- Parish Music
- Service and Outreach
- Social Fundraising
- Worship
A full list of pages within the St. Gregory the great web site may be found under Site Map.
Identifying Links
Not all links will be identified under a menu. Some are embedded in the text as underlined words. The best way to identify a link is to move your mouse cursor over a word or group of words. A link will be identified whenever the cursor turns into a hand. (Move your mouse cursor off of the words and the hand will disappear.)
If you click your mouse on a link, a new page will appear.
Navigating Between Pages
To navigate between pages within a web site, readers should click on the available links designed to bring them back and forth from page to page. For example, the St. Gregory the Great web site always displays the links to its primary pages at the top menu bar. If visiting the Music Ministry page and you wish to return to the Home page, simply click on the Home link located as the first link on the menu bar.
Another navigation option is to use the "Back" and "Forward" web browser buttons located at the very top of the window. The "Back" button will take you to the prior pages you visited in sequential order. The "Forward" button will conversely move you forward in sequential order. If you ever become confused as you move from link to link, the easiest way to find your way back is to simply click on the "Back" button.
Adobe Acrobat In order to provide instant access to forms or large documents that may be of interest to you, such as the St. Gregory the Great weekly bulletin, some pages contain links to "portable document format" files (or) ".pdf" files. Adobe Acrobat, which creates these PDF files, allows you to open, view, and print forms or large documents as if they where in their paper format.
When you click on a link that requires Adobe Acrobat, your computer will open its version of Acrobat. (You will not be able to view a PDF file if you do not have Acrobat.)
