Mission Leading Parishioners to a fuller understanding of scripture.

Ministry Description
Lectors proclaim the readings from the Old and New Testaments at Mass. Lectors must be confirmed and must attend a training session. Potential lectors must have certain natural gifts such as strong and clear voices. Overall, they must have confidence, maturity, and sensitivity to not only reach the ears of the people, but their hearts and minds as well. Through study and prayer, the lector develops an understanding of the Word of God and its importance in our celebration of faith. The ministry consists of 70 regular lectors and 20 to 30 substitutes. Regular lectors are grouped in teams of two, with each team scheduled at a weekend Mass once every five weeks.
