Catholic Identity

Why a Catholic Education?

Catholic schools are Christ-centered learning communities which nurture academic excellence, Christian character and service to others.  We seek to educate individuals to reach their full potential in an atmosphere rooted in Catholic traditions and Gospel values.  Our schools, in partnership with the families are dedicated to student excellence.

Goals of Catholic Education

Working with the Faith in Tomorrow document, a strategic plan for Catholic Elementary Schools in the Diocese of Buffalo, the following items are the goals of Catholic Education:

Catholic Identity:  We will be guided by an authentic Christ-centered mission that fosters personal pride in, knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic faith.

Organizational Structure and Leadership:  we will continue to have an active school board which will lead us in the development of strategic planning, budget preparation, policy development, enrollment management, marketing and fundraising.  This plan will be reviewed and updated annually.

Finances: The parish will work with the school community to develop plans to augment tuition costs. The school will operate within a balanced budget utilizing cost saving measures whenever possible

Academic Excellence:

  • We will assess curricular and instructional programs and earn a 90 percent or higher proficiency for academic rigor bases on the Profile for the 21st Century Learning Environment.
  • We will work to develop a range of services and opportunities to empower students to reach their full potential in a global society.
  • We will demonstrate an increase of four percent in the NYS English Language Arts and Math Assessments in all grades 4-8.
  • We will develop an evaluation system that enhances and supports the principal and teacher effectiveness.
  • Educational partnerships will be established with local high schools, colleges, universities and businesses to strengthen and expand curricular and instructional programs.
  • We will assess our programming on a yearly basis to earn a 90 percent or higher proficiency based on the Profile of the 21st Century Learner and Learning Environment.
