Announcement: Appointment of Priests for Family of Parishes
July 2, 2023
Dear Parishioners of St. Pius X, Good Shepherd, and St. Gregory the Great,
I extend my deepest gratitude for your unwavering prayers as we navigate through this transformative period of Renewal within the Diocese of Buffalo. Today, I am thrilled to share significant news regarding the formation of our new Parish Family. A meeting was held, Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the Catholic Center, where the appointment of priests for various Families of Parishes was announced.
It brings me great joy to inform you of the new appointments for our Parish Family, comprised of St. Pius X, Good Shepherd, and St. Gregory the Great. I am honored to assume the role of Pastor for our Parish Family. Joining me in this endeavor, we have Father Robert Wozniak, the current Pastor of St. Pius X, who will serve as a Senior Parochial Vicar. Additionally, Father Daniel Ulmer, the current Parochial Vicar of St. Gregory the Great, will serve as a Parochial Vicar of the Family. We are also pleased to welcome Father David Baker, the current Diocesan Vocation Director and a resident at St. Gregory the Great Parish, who will serve as a part-time Parochial Vicar, primarily assisting with Masses and other sacraments. It is hoped that another full-time Parochial Vicar will be appointed.
As we embark on this new chapter, I would like to express our deep appreciation to Father Dan Young, the current Pastor of Good Shepherd, who has been appointed as the Senior Parochial Vicar in Niagara Falls, Lewiston, and Youngstown. We also extend our gratitude to Father Joe Tokasz, Parochial Vicar of St. Gregory the Great, who has been reassigned to a new family in Cheektowaga, Amherst, Eggertsville, and Williamsville.
We thank both Father Dan and Father Joe for their tremendous service and wish them all the best in their new ministry. The effective date for the formation of our Parish Family is set for July 15, 2023. Together, we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to serve our new Parish Family and look forward to many blessed and fruitful years ahead.
May God bless you! Rev. Leon J. Biernat, Pastor
