Catechist Page
For being more than a catechist ...a guide....an example ... an inspiration...
Our sincerest thanks and appreciation.
May God Bless you for all you do
to bring our youth closer to God!
Dear Catechists,
We wanted you to be the first to know about an exciting opportunity that will be hosted at our parish: Level 1 Certification Training for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori experience-based learning program for faith formation, and Level 1 would involve ages 3-5. Please see video below for more information. This special program comes highly recommended by the Diocese. So far, several teachers from St. Greg's School will be participating in the training and numerous people from around the diocese have expressed interest. Before the training is publicly advertised, we wanted to allow potential attendees from the parish to express interest before all spaces are filled.
The training will be held from August 13th-19th at St. Greg's School and will then continue the following summer (90 hours total). We will be able to start the program for children aged 3-5 this fall, hopefully both in the school and for FFF. The cost per catechist-registrant is $500. We may be able to talk about helping fund the tuition if someone is willing to commit to implementing the program for our students.
Please contact Michael Ruszala at mruszala@stgregs.org for more information if interested watch the short inspiring video below about the program.
Be a Catechist! Students in Grades K-10 will sign up for this coming school year to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic faith. We need catechists for the Weekly and Monthly FFF Programs that begin on the Fall. You can help them learn and grow by becoming a catechist for Faith Formation. As you nurture the faith of our young, you will learn and grow as well! As one long-time catechist put it, “I learn so much from the children!” All materials, lesson plans and support are provided!
Parent Volunteers Needed: We are also in need of parents who can help with Office Support in the upcoming school year for Generations of Faith (Monthly FFF Program).
Substitute Catechists are Needed: Have you thought about teaching religion classes? Try volunteering as a substitute- you'll find out just how fulfilling it is to teach our young parishioners about our faith! Lesson plans and all materials needed are provided! Please pray about it!
If you feel that this is what God is calling you to do, or you just want more information, please email Michael Ruszala at the Family Faith Formation Office at mruszala@stgregs.org or call at 688-5760 to discuss.
